Review of the week 2018/11

Dear Tumbleweed users and hackers,

For some Tumbleweed users, this should be quite an exciting week: GNOME 3.28 has been released on March 14th and you can be sure, the openSUSE GNOME team is pushing hard to deliver this to the users as quickly as possible. But it’s not yet there. But Tumbleweed DID get 4 snapshots in this week (0309, 0311, 0312 and 0313).

Those snapshots included:

  • Amarok 2.9.0
  • KDE Plasma 5.12.3
  • UDisks 2.7.6
  • Linux kernel 4.15.8

And things that are work in progress:

  • GNOME 3.28.0 (Snapshot 0314 – should be ready soon!)
  • New branding / wallpaper (also in 0314)
  • libgcc provided by gcc8 instead of gcc7 (default compiler still gcc7)
  • Linux kernel 4.15.9
  • Systemd 237
  • KDE Applications 17.12.3
  • KDE Frameworks 5.44.0
  • Mozilla Firefox 59.0

Always nice to be able to report such a list of things that are work in progress.
