Dear Tumbleweed users and hackers,
This week saw the release of 6 snapshots (1030, 1031, 1101, 1102, 1103, and 1104).
A major desktop transition anchored the week as GNOME 51.1 arrived in full force in snapshot 1030, bringing refreshed core components including Mutter, GNOME Shell, Control Center, and GDM alongside the broader GTK 4.24 stack and updated applications. KDE users were not left waiting either, picking up the KDE Plasma 6.8.2 bugfix release in the same snapshot. Another satisfying milestone was the resolution of the long-standing SWIG 4.5.1 saga, which successfully crossed the finish line after libstorage-ng resolved its Ruby garbage-collection interaction in snapshot 1031.
Beyond the desktops, several other outlook items cleared out smoothly: Valkey 9.1.3, Wayland-Protocols 1.50, Hyprland 0.57.1, and kernel-source-longterm 6.18.60 all joined the repository. Under the hood, Linux Kernel rolled out 7.3.1, GNU Screen saw a major version jump to 5.0.2, and audio tooling received tandem updates with WirePlumber 0.5.19 and PipeWire 1.6.11.
