openSUSE Tumbleweed – Review of the Week 2016/10

Dear Tumbleweed users and hackers,

Despite the announced issue (see here) and the fact that there has not been a new snapshot since this problem sneaked in, I still can cover 4 snapshots since the last review (0303, 0304, 0305 and 0307).

The snapshots brought these exciting updates:

  • Plasma 5.5.5
  • binutils 2.26
  • OpenCV 3.1
  • openssl 1.0.2g

Even though new snapshots are being blocked from release, ‘the factory’ is still hard at work and new additions are being integrated (and tested to not cause other/new issues).

A lot is happening in stagings though:

  • TeXLive 2015 (only legal reviews pending)
  • Python 3.5.1 is almost there
  • Postgresql 9.4.6. The update will come with a warning: IMPORTANT Users of version 9.4 will need to reindex any jsonb_path_ops indexes they have created, in order to fix a persistent issue with missing index entries.

The known bugs section for this week stays empty.

Have a great weekend ahead
