openSUSE Tumbleweed – Review of the week 2015/44

Dear Tumbleweed users and hackers,

Week 44 was a hectic one in the light of Leap (preparations of Goldmaster), so not too much happened on the Tumbleweed side… ‘only’ one release (20151022), but that one has been packaged with a lot of goodies:

  • KDE Applications 15.08.2
  • KDE Framework 5.15.0
  • Plasma 5.4.2
  • gcc 5.2.1
  • Qt 5.5.1

The next snapshot to be released is 20151030 (if openQA agrees with us); it is bringing you those nice updates

  • Mesa 11.0.4
  • GNOME 3.18.1
  • Linux kernel 4.2.4
  • Libreoffice 5.0.3 – the version update is probably less interesting than the fact that the GTK3 UI-module, which was responsible for most crashes, has been split in a sep. package for developers
  • XOrg 1.17.4

Currently, I don’t see a lot of interesting things happening in the staging areas. There are of course updates of many packages queued up already. Maintainers are certainly focusing a big longer on the Leap bugs that are, without doubt, to be incoming in the next couple days.

Have a lot of fun,
Dominique
