openSUSE Tumbleweed – Review of the week 2019/43

Dear Tumbleweed users and hackers,

This week it has been another three snapshots released upon the users. There were some updates, as usual, and a larger stack has been removed from Tumbleweed, after weeks of preparation. The three snapshots released were 1018, 1022 and 1023.

The main changes in those three snapshots include:

  • GNOME 3.34.1
  • Linux kernel 5.3.6
  • Libreoffice 6.3.3.1 (GTK2 interface disabled)
  • XEN 4.13.0
  • Qt4/KDE4 has been removed from the distro
  • Kubernetes 1.16

The upcoming snapshots will bring you these things:

  • Mesa 19.2
  • Linux kernel 5.3.7
  • openssl 1.1.1d: breaks nodejs8, nodejs10 and python3
  • More work to support /usr/etc
  • LLVM 9.0 as the default when using llvm
  • openssh 8.1
