Perl upgrades are known to always cause a few hiccups \u001bbecause new versions keep on getting stricter and stepping on the toes of lesser maintainer packages. But thanks to a handful of contributors, this went rather smooth (one snapshot was discarded in order to get more fixes in). In total, we released 3 snapshots: 0929, 1001 and 1003.<\/p>\n<p>The snapshots included these updates:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Perl 5.26.1 (NOTE: $CWD is no longer in @INC, this breaks a few programs)<\/li>\n<li>Linux Kernel 4.13.4<\/li>\n<li>webkitgtk3 (webkit1 for gtk3) has been removed (gtk2 variant is next!)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The planned updates include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>GNOME 3.26.1<\/li>\n<li>KDE Plasma 5.11<\/li>\n<li>Linux Kernel 4.13.5<\/li>\n<li>PostgreSQL 10<\/li>\n<li>rpmlint 1.10<\/li>\n<li>Mozilla Firefox 56<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Just mentioning it again here: Tumbleweed is supposed to be kept up-to-date by using &#8220;zypper dup&#8221;; any other method can potentially leave you with an incomplete set of updated packages.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Tumbleweed users and hackers, Week 40 was progressing nicely, with a new Perl version.
