We got married
2009-05-16: I blog more
Yes, you read right: I started my own blog today. And already the first article is in it.
Of course I hope to have plenty of good ideas to know what I can write about. I'm participating in many open source projects. So a lot of things of general interest can be happening.
Where to find my new blog you ask? Nothing easier as that: Follow me
2008-09-12: NCE ES more
I like those acronyms where nobody can tell from the first sight what they mean.
Today I received the confirmation that I successfully passed another exam and am thus granted a new certification. As the title suggests, it's the NCE ES.
NCE ES means: Novell Certified Engineer - Enterprise Services
The exam was based on OES2 (Open Enterprise Server 2, which is a SLES (SUSE Linux Enterprise Server) based package containing all the goodies known from NetWare, like eDirectory, iManager, NetStorage and so on.) and contained topics like configuring NetStorage, configuring access to Servers, based on Roles, as it makes sense for an enterprise environment.
I hope that this knowledge will be of any use in my current job. We are planning on moving forward to OES2, so it should be helpful.
2008-01-01: Happy new year !!! more
We wish you all a happy new year! May 2008 bring you all the satisfaction, luck and health you deserve.
2007-07-21: domain leuenberger.net functional again more
Wow.. that was an amazing outtake. My last provider (Lotus-Net, which initially I was building and then got out of it) decided just to change the whole setup. We usually had a nice contact, but this time everything got lost: they just switched their own DNS Servers off and started to use a DNS provider, but without registering their own address. pfff.. so leuenberger.net still pointing on their DNS Servers (after all it was hosted there) and it got lost.
And then came a horrible procedure to recover my account at networksolutions, the registrar for the domain. I simply could not remember the password, and the registered mail was @leuenberger.net... nice eh?
well... long story shot conclusion: the site is back up again, completely reachable and I used the oportunity to change the provider.
2007-03-31: Happy birthday to me more
Well well, today I turned 30 years old. And my lovely girlfriend just offered me a nice trip around in Romania.
We went for a nice weekend to Sinaia, some nice place in the Romanian mountains. Isn't it amazing to be in such a nice village, at the foot of a mountain, taking the telecar up the mountain and have some smooth snow, at 2000 m?
Don't miss out the pictures from that journey in our Sinaia Gallery
2006-09-03: Spam in guestbook more
It seems spam in guest books is getting more and more popular. At his moment, I remove about 2 to 4 entries per day which, as I think, are not of general interest and for sure are not related to my website and / or to me. Of course I have some ideas on how to prevent it. Some appear easier, some more difficult, some are convenient for the users, others are less. For the moment, the guestbook just does not allow the input of links anymore (not a drawback before, as anyhow, HTML was NOT interpreted within the guestbook and the links did not become clickable.
If this is enough to prevent spammers, then: GREAT. I won't do anymore on this topic. If it's NOT enough, I have the next idea prepared and ready: The email address will become a mandatory field (selectable to publish it public or not) and a confirmation link will be sent to that email address; only after the link has been confirmed, the entry will be shown in the guestbook. As I said, less convenient for the honest user, but probably a quiet good protection agains fraud entries. Most probably the spammers don't take the time to read their spammed mailboxes just to find this link.
So for now, let's hope the first countermeasures work and we don't have to take the next step.
2006-07-26: Holiday in Corfu (Greece) is over more
Marina and I just arrived back home from a splendid holiday in Corfu, Greece.
It's difficult to explain and to tell about all these impressions, all we can say: we LOVED this island.
The beaches going to a very clear sea, spending some minutes on the sea on a Pedalo, visitting hidden caves with the help of local guides: all this are unforgettable memories.
Never we would have believed that the sea can really be as blue and as shiny as we've seen it in Corfu.
Take a look by yourself, visit the Gallery
2006-06-29: Sao Paulo / Brazil more
Again, my job helped me for traveling around. This time I was sent to Sao Paulo in Brazil, to integrate the newly acquired offices into our network.
After installing two new servers (one for Sao Paulo and one for Rio de Janeiro) and testing everything, I traveled to Rio de Janeiro and spend some nice minutes on the Beach (Copacabana). It's really a wonderful place to stay, even though I was there in winter, at only 25 degrees.
Stay tuned for pictures.
2006-04-09: Visit in Madame Tussaud's Museum more
After a visit in Madame Tussaud's Museum I just can't keep the pictures away from you. So there's a new gallery, called Celebrities. Impressive, how many people are just standing in there and waitng to be photographed. I guess I have most of them. Some are really friendly.
2006-04-03: Arbeiten in Amsterdam more
2005-10-06: Cisco certification more
2005-09-22: LPIC1 - 102 Prüfung bestanden more
2005-09-08: LPIC1 - 101 Prüfung bestanden more
Wieso macht man sowas?
2005-09-05: Neue Gallerie more
2005-08-20: Bildergalliere modifiziert more
2005-06-28: ECDL Examiner Certificate more
2004-10-01: Live-Schaltung der Web-Site more
